RE

Religious Education is of huge importance in preparing children for life in modern Britain and within diverse communities. At Fairchildes, our RE lessons contribute towards pupil’s personal development, emotional intelligence and to their understanding of the wider world. Whilst supporting school values, children will be taught the importance of acceptance and learn to appreciate other faiths and cultures and the importance of equality and identity.

We aim to enrich pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development whilst also promoting compassion and kindness. Children will learn about the principal religions and traditions as well as other worldviews and moral issues.  Throughout the school year, children will be provided with opportunities to enhance learning and deepen their understanding through role play, trips, handling artefacts, celebrating religious festivals and in school visitors for celebrations such as Diwali and Harvest.

Through our RE curriculum we aim to develop pupils’ understanding of faith and help to eradicate misconceptions and ignorance that may come with lack of knowledge. We believe that it is vital that children have a good understanding of the principal religions and traditions in order to be able to understand others and themselves more.
