Yr6 trip to Canterbury Cathedral

Full CalendarRowdown Calendar

This event will take place between 9:00am and 3:00pm on 11/11/2019

As part of our Year 6 English and History curriculum, we have been learning about the murder of Thomas Becket and the rule of King Henry II. As you can imagine, this is an interesting and exciting topic for the children and they have asked many interesting questions.

We are asking for a contribution of £10.00 which covers the cost of the trip and travel. Payment should be via Parent Pay on line, cash will not be accepted in school.  If you need a username and password please ask at the office.  Alternatively please ask at the office for a barcode to pay in cash at a PayPoint store.

To aid their understanding and gather further background, we have arranged for the children to visit Canterbury Cathedral. It was here that Becket was murdered on December 1170 and on the trip, the cathedral guides will give an in-depth tour and host activities.

Children will eat lunch in the cathedral grounds. In the event of poor weather, there is a school lunch room we can use. Children will need a packed lunch on this day and a bottle of water. Children in receipt of a free school meal will be provided with a lunch on this day if requested. A coat and should be worn as well as school uniform.

We will travel to Canterbury by minibus, leaving school by 09:00am. We aim to be back at school by 3:00pm but may be delayed if there is traffic. Should our arrival at school be later than the end of the school day, the office will send a text to inform you of the new estimated arrival time. Please ensure you check your phone regularly on this day so you are available for collection at the correct time.

If your child normally walks home alone and you would like your child to walk alone (even if we return later than 3:05pm), please indicate this on the reply slip.
