return to school letter for 8th march 2021

Please enter an introduction for your news story here.

Good afternoon Parents & Carers,

I hope that you are all well and have managed to survive lockdown. I am writing about the arrangements for the return to school. School starts for all year groups on Monday 8th March. Having put a lot of measures in place for the Autumn term, we shall reinstate these to maintain children’s and staff safety.

  1. Attendance

We are looking forward to seeing all of the children again. From Monday 8th March, it is a legal requirement that all children will attend school. Please contact the school office should your child not be able to attend for any authorised reason. i.e. illness.

As previously, we will contact families if children are not in school and we have not heard from you.

  1. Entry and exit times.

These will remain the same as for the Autumn term. See table below.

We cannot emphasis enough that children MUST be dropped off and collected at the end of the day on time. As previously, there is no provision for them waiting for you in the school.

We appreciate that these times will not suit everyone and may require some of you to wait outside with one or more of your children. We apologise for this inconvenience but is essential we maintain our bubbles in line with government guidance.

  1. Face Coverings

As there will be staff, children and other parents around the gates at the beginning and end of the school day, we please ask you to please wear face coverings during drop off and pick up, and to please make sure you maintain a social distance of 2m from other people. Face coverings are not compulsory for primary school aged children. It is entirely up to you whether or not your child wears one. If they do, they will remain responsible for their removal and storage once in school. Following government guidance, we will no longer be taking children’s temperatures each morning.

Staff will be wearing face coverings in all communal areas, such as corridors and the dining room, and some will continue to do so in the classroom. Staff are also required to take a lateral flow test twice weekly.

  1. School Uniform

All children are expected to wear full school uniform on their return as normal. We would like to remind you NO leggings, joggers or sweatshirts with logos. For a full uniform list please see our website.

On PE days, your child will come to school in their PE kit and can remain in this all day, as in the Autumn Term.  PE lessons will start from Monday 8th March so look at the table below for your child’s PE day. May I remind you that PE kit is a red t-shirt with navy/black shorts or joggers. Some children were treating it as a mufti day before Christmas!

  1. Breakfast club

Breakfast Club will be running from Monday 8th March, but you will need to book a place by Thursday midday – bookings will not be accepted after this time.   Children will be kept in year group bubbles. Please make clear in your email if you want a 7.30am start or an 8am start and if your child is having breakfast or it is just for supervision. Your child will not be able to come in at any other times due to procedures we have in place to keep all children safe. To book a place at Breakfast Club contact: kay.lewthwaite@rowdown.croydon.sch.uk

  1. Bubbles

Children will remain in their year group bubbles, with staggered break and lunchtimes in line with government guidance.

  1. Resources

All children in years 1-6 will be provided with the resources that they need. These will stay in school. Please don’t send any other stationery into school.

If possible, please send your child in with a reusable water bottle, which can be sent home for washing every day.

  1. Return of Laptops

If your child borrowed a school laptop during lockdown, you will need to return this to school on the first day back. (Monday 8th March) Please hand both the laptop and charger to the class teacher when you drop your child at the gate.

Thank you for your co-operation in all of the above, and for your continued support and patience at this time. Any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with either the class teacher or the school office.

We look forward to seeing you, from a safe distance!
