Safeguarding

Keeping Children Safe

At Fairchildes Academy Community Trust the safeguarding of all our children is paramount.

We do this by:

Providing a safe environment for children to learn and play.

Statutory policies are in place. Health and safety regulations provide guidance for all staff, pupils and visitors.

Year 4 and 5 pupils are given the opportunity to become Peer Mediators and learn how to deal with minor conflict through mediation.

Listening to what children tell us.

We have a strong pastoral team including mentors and school counsellors.

Children can talk to any adults in school about anything that is worrying them.

Identifying vulnerable children and families who may require additional support.

We have mentors at school to offer advice and support to families and children. PHSE leaders are also trained to identify and support vulnerable children through the DotCom Programme.

Acting swiftly and appropriately when child protection concerns are raised.

We have trained Designated Safeguarding Leads in school who are responsible for

Child Protection. Staff are always happy to speak to any parent/carer who has a concern.

Working effectively with all outside agencies who are involved in providing services for our children.

We have a duty of care to our pupils and all staff are supportive to agencies working with our families.

Following safer recruitment procedures and policies when appointing new staff/volunteers.

All staff and volunteers working with our pupils are DBS checked prior to joining the school.

Consistently promoting and ensuring safe practice within our setting.

Our policies are reviewed regularly and are in accordance with current legislation.
