Letter to Parents 25th June 2020
I am sure that many of you have started to think about September and are wondering which class your child will be going into.
On Wednesday 8th July we will post a video to each of our classes from their new teacher, so that they will all find out at the same time. This video will be posted on Google Classroom. The teachers will also email a letter to you on the same day and the link to the video will be posted in that too. The teachers will give you an email address, please contact them if you have any questions.
Also on the 8th July we will post a “New to Reception” video, which will take the place of the annual meetings, and will give families new to Fairchildes the information that they need, as well as a “New to Nursery” video.
At the end of this term we will be saying goodbye to Ms Arthur and Ms Carter. We have loved having the ladies with us at Fairchildes and will miss them both very much, however the journey between school and home has proved too far. We wish them the very best of luck in their new schools. The lovely Mrs Atree has also retired this term, after being at Fairchildes for 15 years. She has supported many of our children during her time as a TA and as a reading volunteer prior to her employment, she will be missed. Also, as many of you know Mrs Kingdon is due to have her baby any moment now, and will be on maternity leave for two terms. We are pleased to welcome Mrs Day and Mrs Johnson, two experienced teachers, to our team as well as our own Mrs Wickenden who will have her own class in September.
Parents of pupils in Year 6, as you know next Friday is transition day in Croydon. By now you should’ve had some form of correspondence from the school that your child is moving to. Most Croydon schools are planning on producing virtual tours for next Friday and will send you the link to watch them. Our year 6 teachers are currently holding meetings with their year 7 counterparts.
As you will know from the news, there are no clear plans for schools for September. The government has promised more information over the next few weeks and I will let you know as soon as decisions are made for Fairchildes, though this may well be in the summer holidays, so please keep an eye on your emails, texts and Facebook.
Once again, thank you for your continued support of Fairchildes.
