Letter to Parents 27.01.21
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now in our fourth week of this current lockdown, and I know it is proving problematic for many. I want to thank you for your continued support throughout this lockdown and the previous one. We as a school have no insider information as to when the children will be coming back to school, we usually find out the day before there are any changes and have to then organise for those changes as quickly as we can. We know this can be frustrating for parents, it is equally frustrating for us as we want to ensure that we follow the guidance and plan as appropriately as we can. All I can say is thank you for your continued patience and support.
Vodafone have provided the school with some Sim Data cards, should you require one for all types of tablets Dongles and WiFi devices. I only have a limited number so they will be given out on a first come first served basis. Please contact the school if you would like one.
The teachers continue to provide home learning for those pupils at home; the staff endeavour to provide as interesting a selection of lessons across all subjects. I am grateful for their efforts but this can only be done in partnership with parents and so your support is much appreciated here too.
As we are approaching the end of this half term, I felt it was an appropriate time to let you know that this will be my last two weeks as the Head of School as I will be retiring (again). My last day will be on the Thursday 11th February.
I came here a couple of years ago, after retiring from a previous role in Lewisham, to teach music for a couple of days a week. I was then asked to take on the role of Interim Headteacher for a while and two and a half years later - I am still here. It has been a privilege getting to know the children of this school, who have been a constant delight and motivation for me to have stayed as long as I have.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thanks all those parents who have been supportive of me and the school. Together we have done some amazing things, not least getting a judgement of ‘Good’ from Ofsted. There have been many of you, who have been very kind in your comments and in your communications with me and I thank you all.
I would also like to thank all the staff in school, whatever their roles, they have also supported me throughout my time here. Without their hard work and their dedication I would not have been able to do anything - my heartfelt thanks to them all.
This has not been an easy decision to make, especially at this time, I had originally planned to retire slightly earlier however, I felt that it was not appropriate. I will miss the children dreadfully as I said they have been a source of joy and motivation for me.
The school has been busy recruiting a new head teacher to replace me. Miss Johnson, who comes highly recommended, will I am sure develop the school even further. The Trust will be sending out more information in due course so you will be kept updated.
I am sending this information out today as I will be letting the children know tomorrow on my google meet assembly that this will be happening. I wanted the parents to be prepared for any questions or reactions they might have, change is never easy for anyone.
Again, it has been my pleasure being your Head teacher and thank you all for having me.
With very Kind regards,
