Letter to Parents 03/04/20

Dear School Community,

The last few weeks have been difficult for everyone, and things have changed very rapidly over a short period of time. First of all let me say I hope all our families are safe and well. It is not until you watch the news that you get a true idea of what is happening and it is worrying. I want to thank you all for the calm way you have all dealt with this, and the words of encouragement and thanks we have had along the way. I’d also like to take time to thank all the staff at school for their amazing work; I know that you and the children appreciate the online work that teachers are providing. Unfortunately I have had to self-isolate because my other half has health conditions that put them in the high risk category. However I have been in contact with the school and staff every day answering emails and keeping in touch so I know exactly what they are doing. I want to give a very special thank you to Miss Sandell our Executive Head who has worked tirelessly to make sure that everything that we needed to do was done. My Senior Leadership Team have been amazing in keeping the organisation of what we need to do going, thanks to them too.

We as teachers really do miss the children when we are not at work so can you take the time to pass on that message to all of them, we hope that they are well and are still learning but also having fun. Usually at this time of year I have a list of things to share with you all the wonderful things that the pupils and school are up to, sadly that is not possible but if the response I got from my weekly competition is anything to go by they are still doing amazing things.

We have no idea what will happen in the next few weeks in terms of when the social distancing will end so we don’t know when schools will reopen, I for one can’t wait, I don’t have anything else at home to wash with bleach! I just wanted to let you know that we are all thinking about you and want to wish you a happy Easter from all the staff at school. Stay well and safe and remember friends, Easter eggs are not just for Easter, they can stay with you for months if you consume too many. I myself will be as fat as a pug.

Don’t forget to put an entry into my competition for this week; hard boil an egg  (with the help of a parent or adult) and decorate it anyway you want. Pictures of eggs to be sent to me by Wednesday.

Happy Easter to everyone,

John Green
