Letter to Parents 1/9/20

Good afternoon Parents & Carers,

I hope that you are all well and have managed to make the best of the summer holidays.

School starts for all year groups on Monday 7th September.

In July we posted a letter on Facebook & the website detailing our plans for September. You can still read this on our website:  https://www.factrust.org/rowdown (Parents/ Urgent News: September return to school letter)

During the coming week I will post further information by text/ Facebook & on the website.  I have no doubt that many of you are feeling extremely anxious about your child returning to school, and that the recent media coverage has not helped this. We will do everything we can to keep our children and staff safe.

1. Entry and exit times.

We appreciate that it is not going to be easy for those of you with more than one child, but we ask that you drop your child off at exactly the right time and then you leave, so that we do not have too much crowding at the gates. There will be staff: senior leaders, mentors and TAs, at the gates each morning to greet your children and to direct them into the correct doors. Each afternoon your child will be brought to gates by his/her class teacher. This will give you the opportunity to have a very quick chat with the class teacher, but if you need a long discussion, please ring the school office and ask that the teacher call you back. This way we will be able to keep the areas around the gate free from congestion. We cannot emphasis enough that children MUST be collected at the end of the day on time. There is no provision for them waiting for you in the school.

(I have attached the timetable at the bottom of this letter)

2.School Uniform

We are aware that Brigade are a little behind with their orders for September. If your child is unable to return in full uniform because of this, we do understand but would ask for no leggings, joggers or sweatshirts with logos.

3.Breakfast club

Breakfast Club will be running from 7th September, but you will need to book a place next week if you want your child/children to attend. Children will be kept in year group bubbles. Please make clear in your email if you want a 7.30am start or an 8am start. Your child will not be able to come in at any other times due to procedures we have in place to keep all children safe.

To book a place at Breakfast Club contact:bc@rowdown.croydon.sch.uk

4.Resources:

All children in years 1-6 will be provided with the resources that they need. These will stay in school. Please don’t sent any other stationery into school.

If possible, please send your child in with a reusable water bottle, which can be sent home for washing every day.

Your child will need to wear their PE kit to school on their PE days. Further information will be sent out about this via the class teacher.

(Please note: This is a change from the original letter from July)

5. Face masks on public transport.

Some of our older pupils may be travelling to school on public transport on their own, wearing a facemask. Please let me know if this applies to your child so that we can arrange to have him/her met at the gate where we can ensure that the mask is taken off properly, placed in a plastic bag and have him/her wash their hands immediately.

As always, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me. head@rowdown.croydon.sch.uk

Many thanks

Mr John Green,

Head of School.
