Nursery
Monks Orchard Nursery admits children from the term after their 3rd birthday. We offer set sessions during the week for 15 or 30 hours. Admission is easy and a form can be collected from our school office. We operate a waiting list and will discuss availability when we receive the completed form.

An itemised invoice will be provided to parents who book any additional sessions. Invoices will not be issued to those parents who are only using their free childcare entitlement.
Physical Development
Children develop their strength, coordination, and control through active play, PE sessions, and outdoor learning. Fine motor skills are strengthened through activities such as drawing, cutting, and building, helping to prepare children for writing.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
We support children in building positive relationships, managing their feelings, and developing independence. Through play and group activities, children learn to share, take turns, and gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.

Literacy
Children begin their reading and writing journey through phonics, storytelling, and a love of books. They learn to recognise sounds, write their name, and use marks and letters to give meaning to their ideas.

Mathematics
Maths in Reception is practical, fun, and engaging. Children explore numbers, counting, shapes, patterns, and simple problem-solving through games, songs, and hands-on activities that build strong foundations.

Understanding the World
Children learn about the world around them by exploring nature, technology, past events, and different cultures. They ask questions, investigate, and develop curiosity about their environment and the wider world.

Expressive Arts and Design
Creativity is encouraged through art, music, dance, and imaginative play. Children experiment with colours, materials, sounds, and movement, expressing their ideas and feelings in a variety of ways.
